This home design was derived from the owner’s admiration of an existing farm building on the site. The design emulates the strong architecture of that building with the use of durable materials and simple gable forms. The board and batten siding, brick chimneys, and metal roofing make a powerful expression of long-lasting materials.
The home is integrated into its waterfront site with the use of extensive terraces and canopy roofs. An entry path cascades down to the front entry vestibule from the garages then continues down alongside the main living areas and finally off to the lakefront dock. Rooms in the home eddy off of this main path and radiate out to the site. This new grounded home posses the strong character that the owners desired and embraces the land, the lakefront, and the views.
